Christians Between Tradition and the Modern World
Abstract
It seems that the time is approaching for our society to confront modern secular ideas and institutions. This phenomenon in sociology is also referred to as modernization. Contrary to this, our society is primarily characterized by tradition, although it would be presumptuous to say that it completely lacks elements of modernity. The role of religion and the Church in these epochal events is irreplaceable and crucial, especially due to their connection with tradition. The text attempts to describe possible alternatives for this encounter, as it is evident that religion and the Church are not bound to the past for all time but are primarily oriented towards the future. Hence, the possibility of compatibility between religion and modernity in Croatian society.
